As technology continues to redefine the media, broadcast and corporate communications landscape, IBC 2024 was the perfect platform for Kinly’s innovation team to take a look into the future. From innovations in virtual collaboration to the integration of AI for broadcast workflows, IBC showcased the latest trends poised to drive transformation from the studio to the boardroom.
Here, we’ll share our key takeaways from the event, highlighting how developments from leading vendors will impact the AV industry in years to come…
At IBC, XR platform designer, Disguise, gave a glimpse into how to simplify the creation of generative AI content for XR Studio environments.
Developing content for XR experiences is often fraught with complexity, requiring months of effort to design hyper-realistic assets such as corporate offices or training spaces. Now, by leveraging generative AI, users can significantly accelerate both the pre-production and production phases of asset development by easily creating digital twins of places and spaces. In fact, a basic user can create 2.75D backgrounds with parallax just by using Smart Phone photos!
Generative AI democratises XR content creation, removing the cost barrier of creating aesthetically pleasing, immersive sets and backgrounds with a plug and play 3D effect solution. Using AI to minimise the tedious and maximise the extraordinary in the creative process is set to breathe new life into XR content creation for a range of industries and uses.
AWS was also prominent at the event, showcasing its AI-driven content creation capabilities. Powered by Bedrock technology, AWS is able to automate tasks like script writing and video generation. Integrated with Cloud Native Agile Production (CNAP) and tools including Amazon S3, AWS Bedrock streamlines media workflows from ingestion through to distribution.
This will be particularly valuable for corporate teams looking to produce custom content at scale, while optimising their existing resources. AWS is also set to lead in virtual production and XR with AI-powered real-time content creation working to push the boundaries of immersive experiences even further. Watch this space...
After refuelling on Bitterballen, it was back to the event where Brompton demonstrated its Frame Remapping solution. This makes it possible for multiple cameras to individually see different content when viewing the same LED screen, at the same time.
With two cameras now able to see a different rendered virtual set, this innovation will open a world of new possibilities for the Kinly XR Studio. In the corporate XR Studio, autocue or position marks can be overlaid on the LED screen - seen only by the presenter and not visible to the camera - to ensure the compelling presentation of messages.
It was great to connect with Kinly partner, Absen, at IBC. Absen displayed its flexible range of LED solutions for the broadcast industry and related sectors including the Creative Stage, Conference Room, Studio Solution, and Hands On Area. Across the four solutions, it was clear for all attendees to see the possibilities that can be unlocked when harnessing the capabilities of powerful and immersive LED displays.
Absen capped off a successful event by deservedly securing the Best of Show Award at IBC 2024 for its SA Series in the TVBEurope category. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Absen and providing our global clients with exceptional visual experiences through LED technology while securing an innovative, more sustainable future for all.
Lastly, congratulations go to production solution specialist, White Light, for building the complex, multifunctional broadcast studio on the Samsung stand. Its efforts resulted in Samsung claiming the IBC Innovation Award for Content Creation: Technology Partner to Winner!
